Meet J. Steven Smith, MD
J. Steve Smith, MD is the Director of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Aptiva Health. Dr. Smith has been in practice well over a decade serving the Louisville and Southern Indiana area and surrounding counties. After attending Western Kentucky University where played baseball, he graduated from the University of Kentucky Medical School. He earned an opportunity to train at the University of Rochester in New York, renowned for its Orthopedic Surgical program. He then furthered his skills at the world famous Kerlan Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, California and successfully completed a fellowship to become a Sports Medicine specialist. While in Los Angeles, he served on the medical staff for the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Anaheim Ducks, as well as many other professional, collegiate, and high school programs. He has performed thousands of orthopedic surgical procedures on patients and athletes of all ages and possesses an abundance of experience and knowledge to his Director role at Aptiva Health.
