Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) creates a computer-generated image of bony structures and soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments, tendons, and blood vessels. An MRI may be ordered if a problem such as infection, tumor, inflammation, disc herniation or rupture, or pressure on a nerve is suspected.
At Aptiva Health, we offer MRI scans on our High-Field Open MRI (Phillips Panorama HFO) in our Louisville office and a 1.5T Siemens Espree at our Lexington Imaging Center and our Northern Kentucky Imaging Center.

Digital Orthopedic X-ray Rooms. An x-ray (radiograph) is a noninvasive medical test that involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Even with the advent of many newer and highly advanced technologies, X-rays remain an important part of our imaging department and are commonly used to view broken bones and other medical conditions. At Aptiva Health, we utilize Wall Mount Digital X-Ray Systems and have full orthopedic x-ray suites at all locations.
Ultrasound. This technology uses sound waves to produce real-time images of the soft tissue structures within and around your knee. Your doctor may want to move your knee into different positions during the ultrasound to check for specific problems. At Aptiva Health, we utilize the Konica Minolta Sonimage HS1 Ultrasound for Procedures and Injections.
C-arm fluoroscopic X-ray systems are mobile imaging units used primarily for fluoroscopic imaging during surgical, orthopedic, and interventional pain management procedures. C-arm fluoroscopy systems obtain real-time moving images of the internal structures of a patient through the use of a fluoroscope - similar to an x-ray "movie." A continuous x-ray beam is passed through the body part being examined, and is transmitted to a computer monitor so the body part and its motion can be seen. At Aptiva Health, we utilize Zeihm Vision and Solo C-Arms for interventional pain management and orthopedic procedures.
